Just as Buffalo Bill has everything to do with the founding of Cody, so too, is the importance of the Cody campground to the KOA franchise system.
Kampground of America (KOA) will honor its first franchise operation in 2014 as the Cody KOA marks its 50th anniversary. The KOA concept was born at the Seattle World's Fair, when founder Dave Drum talked to crowds of people passing up the hotels to sleep alongside the highway or in gas station parking lots. A "concept campground" was built in Billings in 1962, and the Cody KOA staked claim as the "first franchise" title in 1964. Now the company has 470 franchise operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan. As time has passed, Cody KOA has increased with the needs of guests and offer amenities such as cable, WIFI internet, pool, sauna, bike rentals, and more!
Today we are committed to providing superb camping facilities in the Cody, Wyoming and Yellowstone area providing only the best Yellowstone camping experiences.
